The Brühl-based company DEDITEC is today presenting its new RO-ETH-CNT8 counter module. This module has 8 input counters (48-bit counters) and 2 output counters (32-bit counters).

The extremely accurate resolution of the PWM ratio (0.01% at 2 kHz, 0.1% at 20 kHz, and 1% at 200 kHz) and the 48-bit counters per input channel are just two of the countless highlights of this module.

The RO-ETH-CNT8 is equipped with 4 different counting modes. The counting mode can be set separately for each of the 8 input channels. This gives the customer the option of counting pulses or performing distance measurements, number measurements, or PWM measurements.

The 8 input channels of the RO-ETH-CNT8 are designed for a switching voltage of 15V – 30V as standard (can be reconfigured to 5V – 12V) and each have a 48-bit counter. In addition, a separate counting mode and filter can be set for each input channel. The maximum input frequency of the inputs is 20 MHz.

The 2 outputs (32-bit counters) of the module have a maximum output voltage of 5V at a maximum output frequency of 5 MHz. The number and low/high times (10ns steps) of the pulse can be preset. PWM pulses with frequencies of 1 kHz, 10 kHz, and 100 kHz can also be output with a very accurate resolution.

The special feature of this module is that all input and output channels are galvanically isolated from each other. The maximum resolution of the input channels is 20 MHz, and that of the outputs is 5 MHz. The compact module, measuring 85 mm x 126 mm x 31 mm (L x W x H), also has a DIN rail mount, making it easy to install in distribution cabinets or sub-distribution boards. The power supply (7-24 V DC) must be provided externally via a power supply unit.

Highly popular due to its great flexibility!

The CNT8 inputs of the RO series can be expanded in 8-fold increments (max. 64) and can of course be combined with other interfaces (CAN, USB, or RS-232/RS-485 interface) or submodules (e.g., other digital I/Os or temperature inputs) of the RO series! Existing modules can also be expanded with CNT8 inputs.
