The new CANopen module COS-THERMO4_K features four type K thermocouple inputs and converts the signals from a thermal sensor into temperature readings. For this purpose, the measured voltage is processed by an integrated 14-bit A/D converter. The module achieves a resolution of 0.25 °C within a measurement range from -200 °C to 1,350 °C. The accuracy of temperature detection is impressive: ±2 °C from -200 °C to 700 °C, and even in the range from 700 °C to 1,350 °C, it remains within ±4 °C.
Missing thermoelectric voltage at the cold junction of the thermocouple is compensated using cold junction compensation. The CAN interface signals, as well as channels 1 & 2 and 3 & 4, are galvanically isolated from each other and from the power supply (up to 500 V).
The COS-THERMO4_K can be used either as a standalone module or in combination with multiple COS modules. Based on the CANopen profiles according to CiA® specifications CiA 301, CiA 305, and CiA 401, this module is excellently suited for almost all application areas in modern automation technology.
