Control 64 analog outputs via CAN

Control 64 analog outputs via CAN
The Brühl-based company DEDITEC is expanding its range of I/O modules with the RO-CAN-DA64. This module has a total of
64 analog outputs, each with 16-bit resolution.

The RO-CAN-DA64 is equipped with 4 different voltage modes. The voltage range can be configured separately for each output via software as 0-5V, 0-10V, +5V, or +10V. The conversion time of the D/A converters is 10-12 µs.

The compact module, measuring 372 mm x 126 mm x 31 mm (L x W x H), also has a DIN rail mount, making it easy to install in distribution cabinets or sub-distribution boards. The power supply (7-24 V DC) must be provided externally via a power supply unit.

Integrated timeout output protection

In addition, timeout output protection has been integrated, which automatically switches off the outputs as soon as the module cannot be addressed within a software-definable period of time (e.g., in the event of a connection failure).

Control via CAN – DEDITEC Auto-Rx mode

The RO-CAN-DA64 is capable of responding to CAN messages from external devices within the CAN bus. A free configuration tool is included in the scope of delivery for this purpose. This tool can be used to specify a CAN ID (11- or 29-bit) to which the RO-CAN-DA64 should then respond. The user data of all incoming CAN messages to this ID is forwarded to the analog outputs. A voltage with the value defined in the CAN message is then output independently at the analog outputs.

Highly popular due to its great flexibility!

The analog outputs of the RO series can be expanded in increments of 4 or 8 (max. 64) and can of course be combined with other interfaces (ETH, USB, or RS-232/RS-485 interface) or submodules (e.g., other digital I/Os or temperature inputs) of the RO series! Existing modules can also be expanded with analog outputs.
