High-end for beginners: the new WEU-RELAIS-8 and WEU-OPTOIN-8 modules

Jan 11, 2022 | News

The new modules in the WEU series from DEDITEC are the successors to the pure ETH modules (ETH-RELAIS-8 and ETH-OPTOIN-8).

WEU stands for WiFi, Ethernet, and LAN. The WEU-RELAIS-8 and WEU-OPTOIN-8 can be configured and controlled with any DEDITEC software, either wired via Ethernet (10/100 Mbit) or USB (2.0/1.1), or wirelessly via WiFi.

The comprehensive Windows driver library (DELIB) enables uniform and very simple control of the modules in almost all available programming languages. Furthermore, after installing the DELIB driver library, not only is a ready-made configuration program available, but also a test program. As you would expect, DEDITEC supplies the necessary software directly on the “DEDITEC Driver CD.” Alternatively, it can also be easily downloaded from www.DEDITEC.de. Incidentally, both modules are fully software-compatible with their predecessor modules.

The best thing, however, is that the WEU modules are priced the same as the ETH modules. The WEU-RELAIS-8 is available for just €145 (plus VAT); the model with digital inputs costs only €135 (plus VAT).

Not least because of this excellent price-performance ratio, both modules are ideal entry-level models. Here, customers get high-end quality at a fair price.

Technical data in detail:

WEU-RELAIS-8

The outputs of the WEU-RELAIS-8 are implemented via 8 galvanically isolated relay outputs for switching capacities up to max. 1 A. In addition, timeout protection has been integrated, which automatically switches off the module if it cannot be addressed within a previously defined period of time.

WEU-OPTOIN-8

The WEU-OPTOIN-8 has 8 galvanically isolated optocoupler inputs for digital detection of voltages in the range of 15–30 V (optional 5–15 V) AC/DC. Each input channel has a 16-bit counter (up to 100 Hz) for counting fast events of the module. In addition, a filter for counters/flip-flops from 5 to 255 ms and a filter for sampling the digital input channels from 1 to 255 ms can be set.

Both WEU modules have four status LEDs and one LED on each input and output channel. In addition, four DIP switches facilitate network configuration. Both modules are connected via two 8-pin expandable screw terminals. The modules are operated with a supply voltage of +12 to 24 V DC.

Dimensions (L x W x H): 112 x 90 x 55 mm
