Ethernet measurement technology module expandable with customer application for ‘C’ PLC
The Brühl-based company DEDITEC is today introducing a new feature that allows the existing RO-ETH and RO-CPU-800 series to be expanded with a customer’s own application (in C) for PLC.

With the RO-ETH custom firmware, customers can transfer their own software content (e.g., C applications or HTML pages) directly to modules in the RO-ETH or RO-CPU-800 series. This means that not only can all of the module’s I/Os be managed, but you also have access to the Ethernet interface or (only with RO-CPU-800 modules) the SD card or even the serial interface.

A special feature here is that your own C applications can be executed independently directly when the module is started (similar to the autostart of a conventional PC). This means that no control PC is required when executing the software. As usual, your own HTML pages are available via the module’s web interface and are used to configure and parameterize the C application.

To enable a smooth quick start, DEDITEC also provides a free RO-ETH custom sample project as a download. In addition, this project also contains useful shell scripts for compiling a C program under Linux, for example. This allows customers to develop their own firmware independently and transfer it to the module.
