CAN Module with 16 Digital 24V PWM Outputs

CAN Module with 16 Digital 24V PWM Outputs
The company DEDITEC, based in Brühl, expands its wide range of I/O modules with a digital output module featuring pulse-width modulation (PWM).

The RO-CAN-PWM16 features 16 MOSFET outputs with pulse-width modulation (PWM 0 .. 100%). The duty cycle of the PWM outputs has a resolution of 1% with a switching frequency of 1 kHz. The switching voltage ranges from 12V to a maximum of 30V DC (max. 2A) and can be supplied separately for each group of 8 output channels.

With DEDITEC’s PWM modules, users have the ability to configure the high and low times of the digital outputs. This allows, for example, fans with PWM functionality to be controlled precisely and energy-efficiently, or lamps (up to 2A) and LED modules to be continuously dimmed.

The compact module, measuring 122 mm x 85 mm x 52 mm (L x W x H), also includes a DIN rail mounting bracket, which simplifies installation in distribution cabinets or sub-distribution boards. The power supply (12V .. 24V) can be provided via a standard power adapter.

Control via CAN – DEDITEC Auto-Rx Mode

The RO-CAN-PWM16 is capable of reacting to CAN messages from external devices within the CAN bus. A free configuration tool is included for this purpose. With this tool, a CAN ID (11- or 29-bit) can be assigned, to which the RO-CAN-PWM16 will respond. The payload data of all incoming CAN messages with this ID is forwarded to the PWM outputs. The outputs will then automatically switch voltage based on the previously defined PWM ratio.

Integrated Timeout Output Protection

An integrated timeout protection function ensures that the outputs are automatically deactivated if the module is not addressed within a user-defined period (e.g., in the event of a connection failure).

Highly popular due to its flexibility!

The PWM outputs of the RO series can be expanded in 16-channel increments (up to 128 channels in total) and can of course be combined with other interfaces (ETH, USB, or RS-232/RS-485) or sub-modules (e.g., other digital I/Os or temperature inputs) of the RO series. Existing modules can also be retrofitted with PWM outputs.
