36-Channel Bit Pattern Generator
DEDITEC expands its range of development tools with the USB-BITP-200 bit pattern generator. This device features 36 TTL channels and can output bit patterns with a width of 36 bits. The maximum output speed is 200 MHz. Each channel offers a memory depth of 512 KBit. The included software also allows users to define a custom repeat sequence, enabling automated repetition of bit patterns.
Functionality
The USB-BITP-200 includes internal RAM with a size of 512K × 36 bits. This allows storage of up to half a million 36-bit-wide bit patterns. Thanks to an onboard FPGA, the device includes advanced functionality, making it suitable for a variety of applications.
All configuration and RAM programming is done via registers, which can be accessed easily using the supplied Windows driver library. The RAM has a total size of over 2 MB.
Configurable Start and End Address
The range of output data is set using a start and end address. This means that small sections (e.g., just 4 or 10 consecutive addresses) or the entire memory can be selected for output.
Repeat Count Register
A dedicated “repeat count” register (32-bit) allows users to specify how often the selected memory section (defined by start and end addresses) is repeated. An additional configuration bit enables “infinite mode,” in which the selected pattern is output continuously.
Output Frequency
The output frequency is configured via a 32-bit clock divider register. This allows sample rates down to 1/56 Hz (i.e., one bit pattern every 56 seconds). The internal 200 MHz clock is used as the base frequency, enabling very fine granularity in output frequency control.
Sample Clock Output Option
Additional registers allow, for example, outputting the sample clock on one of the 36 output channels—useful when other devices need to be synchronized with the generator.
All the technology is housed in a robust, compact enclosure with dimensions of 117 × 79 × 47 mm.
Communication with the PC is handled via USB. No external power supply is required.
