CAN Measurement and Control Modules

DEDITEC CAN Modules for Test and Control Systems
Brühl, June 27, 2010

DEDITEC in Brühl introduces powerful measurement and test modules with a CAN interface and both digital and analog inputs and outputs.

CAN Measurement Modules from DEDITEC

The RO-CAN modules from DEDITEC stand out due to their well-integrated combination of hardware and software. A galvanically isolated CAN interface, user-friendly Windows configuration software, and more than 8 different digital and analog I/O modules allow for a wide range of applications.

Safety and Protection via Galvanic Isolation

In industrial environments, galvanic isolation is essential. The DEDITEC RO-CAN series provides galvanically isolated CAN interfaces and also galvanically isolated digital and analog I/Os. A key benefit is that the German manufacturer allows the individual combination of input and output types based on customer requirements.

The RO-CAN series is widely used in testing and quality control systems. In collaboration with selected customers, the firmware has been significantly improved. Today, DEDITEC provides a Windows-based CAN configuration tool with these modules, allowing intuitive and menu-driven configuration.

Communication with RO-CAN Modules

The modules use the DEDITEC CAN addressing mode, enabling register-based control. The protocol is available as a downloadable PDF from the manufacturer’s website.
Additionally, the modules support an auto-transmit and auto-receive mode.

Auto Transmit Mode

In this mode, up to four different transmit packets can be defined, each with a target CAN address and a time interval. The module then automatically sends the configured packets (digital inputs, analog inputs, or test data) at the specified intervals.

Auto Receive Mode

Here, up to four different CAN addresses can be defined. The module listens for incoming data on these addresses. What happens with the received data is user-configurable: the CAN data can be routed to digital outputs or, for example, to D/A outputs.

Documentation and Firmware Updates

Comprehensive documentation is available in both German and English for free download at www.deditec.de

Pluggable Connectors

Thanks to special plug connectors with ejection mechanisms, connected cables can be quickly and easily detached from the module. This enables fast module swaps between workstations and saves valuable time during maintenance or testing.

Scope of Delivery and Pricing

All DEDITEC modules include all necessary plug connectors, a comprehensive Windows driver library, practical test software, and example programs. Pricing and configuration options are available at www.deditec.de
