Control 32 digital bistable relay outputs via Ethernet

Control 32 digital bistable relay outputs via Ethernet
The Brühl-based company DEDITEC is expanding its range of I/O modules with the RO-ETH-REL32_UM. This module has a total of 32 digital bistable relay outputs.

The compact module, measuring 208 mm x 122 mm x 51 mm (L x W x H), also has a DIN rail mount, making it easy to install in distribution cabinets or sub-distribution boards. The power supply (7-24 V DC) must be provided externally via a power supply unit.

Outputs

The RO-ETH-REL32_UM is an Ethernet module with 32 relay outputs (30V, 2A, 60W). The special feature of this module is that the relay outputs are implemented using bistable switching relays. These changeover relays each have a changeover contact, which allows the relay to function both as a normally open contact and as a normally closed contact. Compared to conventional relays, which require a constant current to maintain the switching position, the changeover relays only need a short current pulse to switch the relay. This enables the changeover relays to maintain their switching states even after a loss of voltage. In addition, each changeover relay has two LEDs that serve as status indicators.

Integrated timeout output protection

In addition, a timeout output protection has been integrated, which automatically switches off the outputs as soon as the module cannot be addressed within a software-definable period of time (e.g., in the event of a connection failure).

Ethernet interface

Thanks to the Ethernet interface, all modules can now be accessed via LAN or the worldwide Internet. In addition, the transmission rates are many times faster than with USB or serial modules. This is particularly advantageous for time-critical applications.

Software

The extensive Windows driver library (DELIB) enables uniform and very simple control of the modules in almost all available programming languages, such as C/C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, C#, VB.net, Java, LabView, ProfiLab, or Licht24. At the same time, numerous ready-made configuration and test programs are available to the customer after installing DELIB.

Configuration

There are two configuration options to choose from: either via the DELIB Configuration Utility or via the module’s internal web server. The former is an easy-to-use Windows program. Here, you can set a number of basic values. It can also be used to find modules whose standard IP address does not originate from the network’s address range or if the IP address is already in use. Further settings can then be conveniently made via the internal web server of the ETH module.

Highly popular due to its great flexibility!

The digital relay outputs of the RO series can be expanded in 8-step increments (max. 64) and can of course be combined with other interfaces (CAN, USB, or RS-232/RS-485 interface) or submodules (e.g., other analog I/Os or temperature inputs) of the RO series! Existing modules can also be expanded with analog outputs, for example.
