Software-based first-in/first-out principle optimizes measurement process
In the modules of the NET series, DEDITEC offers an optimized process for all module variants (analog, digital, PWM, etc.) of the series. New here is the FIFO function, which enables a more constant sampling rate and reduces the load on the measurement PC when measuring via the Ethernet interface.
FIFO – “First in, first out” is a term familiar from logistics and means “what comes in first also goes out first.” At DEDITEC, we have implemented this principle in technical measurement procedures with the aim of enabling measurement procedures that require a constant sampling rate. Our software-based FIFO function in modules of the NET series solves problems for both “FIFO In” (values from the submodule module are sent to the interface module, e.g., for A/D and DI modules) situations/measurements/constellations, as well as for applications with “FIFO Out” (values from the interface module are sent to the submodule module, e.g., for D/A and DO modules).
Delays caused by the use of Ethernet interfaces, increased traffic volume, or long distances can be eliminated by using the modules of the NET series. On-site measurement with freely configurable time management, temporary storage in the FIFO buffer, and packet-by-packet forwarding ensures ideal conditions, stable reading and writing, and smooth data transmission.
All advantages at a glance:
- Analog and digital values can be read out at very short intervals (milliseconds)
- Values can be read out precisely at a user-defined time interval
- The FIFO no longer consumes traffic via the Ethernet interface when utilization is high
