Institute for Aircraft Construction at the University of Stuttgart – e-Genius

e-Genius is a two-seater electric aircraft that was developed and built at the Institute for Aircraft Construction at the University of Stuttgart (IFB) under the direction of Professor Voit-Nitschmann.

The aircraft is based on the discontinued development of the Hydrogenius, whose fuel cell powered design won the Berblinger Prize of the city of Ulm in 2006. With a converted energy consumption of 1.4 l petrol per 100 km at a cruising speed of 160 km/h, e-Genius makes a significant contribution to the realisation of environmentally friendly flying.

The electric motor of e-Genius must be cooled with water due to its high performance.

The RO-CAN-PT100 module efficiently and precisely monitors the temperature of the coolant at various positions. The RO-CAN-PT100 collects the temperatures that are measured at the various points and sends them via Can-Bus to the on-board computer. There the pilot can be warned in case of possible overheating of the cooling circuit.
