New thermo module extends the application possibilities of the successful DEDITEC COS series

The new CANopen module COS-THERMO4_K has four thermocouple inputs of type K and converts the signals of a thermosensor into temperature measurement values. For this purpose the measured voltage is converted by an integrated 14 bit A/D converter. The module achieves a resolution of the measured temperature value of 0.25 °C in a measuring range between -200 °C and 1,350 °C. The accuracy of the temperature measurement is impressive. The accuracy of the temperature measurement is convincing in the range between -200 °C and 700 °C with ± 2 °C and is also in the range from 700 °C to 1,350 °C with only ± 4 °C.
Missing thermoelectric voltage at the cold end of the thermocouple is compensated by the COS-THERMO4_K according to the principle of cold junction compensation. The signals of the CAN interface as well as channels 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 are galvanically isolated from the power supply as well as from each other (max. 500 V).
The COS-THERMO4_K can be operated either in stand-alone mode or in combination with several COS modules. Based on the CANopen profiles according to CiA® specification CiA 301, CiA 305 and CiA 401, this module is ideally suited for almost all application areas in modern automation technology.
