DEDITEC starts the first series of embedded CPU modules with the E-CPU-1000 module. The E-CPU-1000 module is based on a 32bit ATMEL ARM-9 9260 CPU. Combined with the functionality of embedded Linux , It is available at the price comparable to
conventional 8/16 bit microprocessor systems.

Compact embedded PC
The E-CPU-1000 module performs all tasks of a mobile and powerful communication processor. Based on the 32bit ARM9 technology arised on an area of only 36,72mm2 (72mm x 51mm) an embedded PC with integrated operating system. This compact module suits for applications in portable devices or as a communication unit for general engineering in industrial or medical technology. Tasks like measurement and control, data logging, ethernet/USB remote maintenance and also protocol conversion are a typical range of application. The simply add-on of existing devices with USB port, ethernet (FTP/HTTP/Telnet Server) and audio (VoIP/WAV/MP3) is also easily possible. All required interfaces are provided to the user and will be completely supported by the installed operating system. Therefore all desired functions are quickly and easily realised without major programming knowledge.
Available interfaces
To offer the customer a wide field of application, all interfaces supported by the ARM9260 are lead through a 100 pin Hirose connector at the back side of the module and so may be wired to the respective implementation. Only some of those interfaces requires a driver module.
Additionally the E-CPU-1000 module possess an external adress- and databus and also 24 TTL I/O which can be programmed by the FPGA. These pins are lead through by a second 100 pin Hirose connector also at the bottom side of the module.
U-Boot
The latest version of the Linux boot loader U-Boot is already installed and is stored in the NAND Flash. The function of the bootloader is to load the Linux kernel. U-Boot can also start a Linux kernel over ethernet (TFTP), from CF-Card oder just by an USB stick.
Operating system Embedded Linux/Windows CE
The E-CPU-1000 module comes by default with the open source Operating Sytem Linux. Based on the open source code, Linux is recommended for developers which are less experienced in programming. The reason is many programming examples are to found in the internet. Optionally the E-CPU-1000 Module can also be equiped with Windows Embedded CE.
Energy saving operating
To reduce the power consumption of the E-CPU-1000 module, the ARM9-CPU has some power management functions. The control signals of these functions are user-programmable .
Large Starterkit
For a fast and easy development start, we recommend you our starterkit E-BASE-1000 including the E-CPU-1000 module. All interfaces that are supported by the E-CPU-1000 module are lead through the E-BASE-1000 board by jacks or headers. The starterkit includes also every needed accessories to immediately begin developing. The programming occurs using Linux and "C".
